What three minutes shows you
Crossing the river unfolds at once: the height difference between upper and lower city, the width of the river and the shape of the far hills. For a first visit to Chongqing it is the quickest way to build a sense of the city's space.
Pairing it with the night cruise
The cableway gives a lateral, three-dimensional view; the cruise boat gives a longitudinal view from the water. Cross in the late afternoon, then return to the wharf and board — you move from height to water level as the light changes most richly.
Notes
- Cableway and cruise ticketing and queuing are separate; plan time for each.
- Peak-season queues can be long — plan it as an attraction that requires waiting.
- Operating and maintenance schedules change; check on-site notices before travelling.
