First, work out which kind of rain it is
- Light rain or showers: sailings usually run; bring rain gear and a windproof jacket.
- Heavy rain or lightning: for safety, sailings may be adjusted or temporarily suspended.
- Strong wind or changing water levels: may affect docking and the route, subject to on-site arrangements.
Preparing to go ahead
- Umbrellas are awkward on deck — a hooded waterproof jacket is more practical.
- Wear non-slip shoes; the wharf stairs are slippier when wet.
- Put your phone and documents in a waterproof bag.
- Lenses fog easily; carry a soft cloth and wipe often.
When a sailing is adjusted
- First confirm whether it is a reschedule, a berth change or a suspension.
- Unused tickets can be refunded or rescheduled under the refund/change notes; approved refunds return to the original payment method.
- Do not argue at the wharf — spending that time on rescheduling is more worthwhile.
What to do on a rainy day
Rain actually suits Chongqing's character: fog, wet streets and lights diffusing in the moisture. If a sailing is cancelled, move the cruise to a later day and arrange indoor activities rather than forcing it.
